T's Diner
T's Diner is a witty installation laden with art references and paying homage to the people who have contributed to my idea of what the art world is.
I am highlighting the consumerism in the art world and embracing my position within it.
The mannequin is a representation of me and sits at the diner, as if living, breathing, eating art- the way I do.
References include a Botticelli Glory- a sundae with a wafer shell fashioned in mod roc and a figure of venus hidden in the whipped cream. Some objects are open to interpretation- the dress (referencing Emin) is adorned with an airbrushed and embroidered heart that reads "The Kiss was beautiful". This could also be read as a reference to Klimt, Rodin, or Brancusi.
The space is welcoming and uncanny, you see something new every time you look.
Everything is for sale, from the neon T's (tease) light, down to her Pillock (Pollock) shoes, apart from the model herself. The menu collates these costs, totalling £27,000- the cost of three years of tuition fees.
